If you have an old house with authentic wooden flooring, you would probably want to sand the floors some day to restore their beauty.
However, based on my personal experience, I would strongly recommend that you consider
floor sander hire if you are aiming to save cost and do it yourself. Nevertheless, please make sure that you have the necessary knowledge and experience in floor sanding or you will definitely be unable to produce the result you expect.
It takes at least a couple of months to pick up the trade and amateur floor sander risk making mistakes that would ruin the expensive hardwood floor. Instead of saving yourself money, you may even need to replace the hardwood floors which have suffered irretrievable damage. I can tell you that floor sanding is definitely not an easy task and requires hard work and involves plenty of dust. Fortunately for us, we have a wonderful brother in law who is an experienced floor sander, so all that work was done for free and the result was awesome.
However, if you are having doubts about doing it yourself, you may want to check out some floor sander specialists who have a good reputation. Good luck with your decision.
